Origin of the week: France!

Beautiful France! So many wonderful things to say about Franc, but let’s start with talking about the area.  Metropolitan France is twice the size of the UK, and a little smaller than the state of Texas. France is the biggest nation in western Europe. It borders with Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Andorra. It is also bordered by the North Sea, the English Channel, the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean. Let’s talk about the food! French cuisine is known for all of it’s rich amazing flavors and very fine dishes that are very healthy. The most common spices are  flour de sel, herbes de Provence, tarragon, rosemary, marjoram, lavender, thyme, fennel, and sage. One of the greatest spices France have to offer is Piment d’ Espelette. A pepper that was introduced to France by Mexico in the early 1600’s, just one taste of this pepper and it will make you feel like you are in the country.  The bold amazing flavor of Piment d’Espelette is very fresh with a hint of fruitiness and a pinch of heat, not very overpowering  and is essential to Basque and regional French cooking.
